The special edition of Autohaus – QM Report was published nationwide at the end of November. In his foreword, Alexander Dobrindt, Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, thanked the QM Association for its exemplary work. "Quality assurance is in good hands with the Association for Quality Management in Vehicle Monitoring. With its regular evaluations, the QM Association provides important information to public supervisory authorities for their quality work and thus for greater vehicle safety." (Magazine page 5) The QM Association's efficient quality assurance system with its stable structures also serves as a model for other industries. It is recognised and widely respected internationally.

Berlin. To mark its fifth anniversary, the Association for Quality Management in Vehicle Inspection (QM e.V.) hosted a symposium in the German capital. Around 80 participants, including the who's who of German and some international vehicle inspection, accepted the invitation and discussed the opportunities and benefits of competition-neutral methods of quality measurement with high-profile speakers.

Dr Gerd Neumann, Chairman of QM e.V., welcomed State Secretary Michael Odenwald, a high-ranking representative of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure. Odenwald spoke about mobility and the future of road transport. This was preceded by presentations highlighting the broad spectrum of quality work, scientific lectures on the economic benefits and possibilities for quality improvement. Prof. Dr. Wolfgang H. Schulz from Zeppelin University in Zurich was certain that quality must be seen as a factor for success in a national economy. Bruno Möbus from DEKRA Automobil GmbH presented sustainable approaches and potential motivators in quality work, while Uwe Nickel from TÜV Nord spoke about innovative quality measures. Dr. Jürgen Pfitzmann from the University of Kassel gave a presentation on ‘Resilience Engineering – Methods for Analysing and Improving Quality,’ and Viktor Kretzschmann, Head of the QM e.V. office, presented ‘Objective Self-Monitoring – Working Methods, Networking and Milestones.’

The symposium, which was competently moderated by Berlin-based presenter Stephan Pregizer, concluded with a panel discussion in which participants explored the question of whether objectified self-regulation represents a future model for quality assurance and consumer protection. The unanimous opinion of the plenary was that ‘quality assurance activities serve as a role model with clear rules. They are open, transparent and comprehensible.’
