The Association for Quality Assurance in Vehicle Inspection (QM-Verein) is attracting considerable interest in other European countries. ‘We are ready to contribute our experience and expertise to the establishment of this central supervisory body for quality in vehicle inspection,’ said Viktor Kretzschmann, head of the QM e. V. office, according to the announcement.
The new Directive 2014/45/EU on periodic roadworthiness tests for motor vehicles must be transposed into national law by 20 May 2017. The directive not only sets minimum requirements, but also provides for the establishment of a central supervisory authority for vehicle monitoring in each EU country. Europe is calling for regulations governing professional competence, impartiality and appropriate qualification and training standards for the new supervisory authorities.
The Association for Quality Assurance in Vehicle Inspection, founded seven years ago, has contributed to the long-term maintenance of the high standards of German general inspections (HU), according to a statement issued by the association. 280 specially qualified auditors check the quality of general inspections throughout Germany. More than 40,000 audit reports have already been compiled and evaluated.
The association bases its work on the dual control principle. Two auditors from different member organisations carry out the audits. The centrally and independently compiled analyses of the audit results by the QM association show the member organisations where there is potential for optimisation and improvement. Membership is open to all monitoring organisations in Germany. Currently, 24 of the 26 German inspection services use this system. (AH)
